Lika destination - Lika destination among the TOP 100 world Sustainable Green Destinations

Global Green Destinations is an international foundation that brings together the world's sustainable tourist destinations, and yesterday at the Global Days of Green Destinations, a list of sustainable TOP 100 global destinations in the world (Global TOP 100 Sustainable Destination) for 2020 was presented, including Lika.

Since its founding, the Lika Destination cluster has been guided by the philosophy of sustainable development (Smart Sustainable Destination), and the main activity of the cluster is the tourist promotion of Lika destinations on the domestic and foreign markets based on natural, cultural, historical, gastronomic and health features. Quality cooperation with 8 protected natural areas, including as many as 3 out of 8 national parks in Croatia, forming a joint ticket for the destination Lika, conducting multi-day programs to stay longer, networking and connecting local producers under a common brand - Lika Quality, opening new markets and encouraging the increase of local production and numerous projects in the field of destination, cultural and sustainable tourism are only part of what the Lika Destination Cluster has been working on since day one, in order to create conditions for the development of sustainable tourism in Lika throughout the year.

Therefore, it is not surprising that the destination of Lika was included among the TOP 100 sustainable green destinations in the world for 2020 for the first time thanks to the application of the Lika Destination Cluster. This prestigious award is proof of destination development in the right direction, in line with the latest world trends.

The destination of Lika has become more and more recognizable on the tourist market in recent years, and this certificate is just another proof of how the Lika Destination Cluster works well on the promotion of the destination and development according to the principle of sustainable development.

It is a joint initiative of Green Destinations, QualityCoast, TravelMole, Vision on Sustainable Tourism, Travelife, ITB Berlin, Asian Ecotourism Network, Ecotourism Australia and GLP Films, which has been held for the 6th year in a row to show stories about sustainable tourism and good examples of destinations, as inspiring examples to others. According to the evaluation of the TOP 100 Green Destination team, this year the selection was more than ever determined by the quality, efficiency and portability of good practice stories submitted by destinations when applying. The TOP 100 Committee also emphasizes that choosing a TOP 100 list does not mean that the destination is sustainable but that it is making good efforts and promising progress. There is no fully sustainable destination.

A list of the TOP 100 sustainable green destinations for 2020 will be available on the Green Destinations website. The TOP 100 participants were invited to be featured in the Good Travel Guide, allowing them to tell their sustainability stories to interested travelers.
