The project "Career opportunities in tourism in Lika II" was approved for the Lika Destination cluster.
After the successful implementation of the project "Career opportunities in tourism in Lika", which met with positive feedback and strong interest, the Lika Destination Cluster, in cooperation with the Polytechnic "Nikola Tesla" in Gospić and the Croatian Employment Service, decided to upgrade the achieved results and continue in a modified format, with a special focus on students as one of the target groups of young people, and the Ministry of Tourism and Sports approved the "Career Opportunities in Tourism in Lika II" project. The goal of the project is to achieve synergy between employers and employees in tourism with the unemployed and young people. The project will strengthen the capacities of the target groups through education, transfer of knowledge and skills, and networking and will create a foundation for acquaintance and potential cooperation.
A network of contacts will be established that will connect the target groups, enabling mentoring, knowledge exchange and providing opportunities for quality networking. Through the planned educations, the emphasis will be on encouraging an interdisciplinary approach in tourism education. The project will present opportunities for learning different skills, especially with an emphasis on sustainability, green and digital aspects, but also other areas of interest to stakeholders. Cluster employees, additionally educated on the mentioned topics, will support those who want to develop their own tourism projects or start their own business in the industry.
The expected impact of the project, both on the target groups and on the end users, is in the development of awareness about the possibilities of improving existing careers in tourism and the initiation of new collaborations, strengthening the attractiveness of tourist occupations and supporting the general goal of the competition - ensuring sufficient, qualified and competent staff with the aim development of sustainable, affordable tourism.
The project "Career opportunities in tourism in Lika II" brings fresh perspectives and opportunities for all stakeholders in the tourism sector. After the internal trainings and creation of educational and promotional materials, thematic educational workshops are expected to be held, which will be open to the general public and will be announced in due time.
