Travič mill: The historical jewel of Lovinac on the Banica stream
The Travič mill is located in Lovinac on the Banica stream, the bed of which is bridged by two arched openings through which water flows and drives the grinding mechanism. This mill dates back to the 19th century. It is extremely rare to find a mill with such a high degree of preservation in the area of Lika, which is partly the result of socio-economic factors such as the death of the area and depopulation. This mill symbolizes the important tradition of grain processing and grinding in Lovinac and its surroundings, at the same time representing a key monument in the area.
The mill was renovated approximately 20 years ago by the "Banica" Association, after which the longest table in Croatia was built, which is used for the gathering of mountaineers and all those who want to rest in the beautiful nature next to the stream.
There are many hidden gems from the past in the area of Lovinac, and this is one of the most important and well-known.
The Travič mill is not only a historical gem but also a living link with the past, providing visitors with an insight into the rich tradition of Lovinac and its surroundings!
