Two Lika towns on the TOP-list of the heartiest Croatian destinations
According to the data of the tourist website Booking.com, a list of the most welcoming cities in Croatia has been published. In this prestigious list, among the first five friendliest cities in Croatia in 2023, there were Otočac, which took the second place, and Korenica, which in terms of friendliness and cordiality, is in fourth place on this list.
In the 1st place of the most welcoming cities is Požega, followed by Otočac, and behind Otočac are Slunj, Korenica, Solin, Postira, Betina, Sutivan, Vinkovci and Ploče.
The Mayor of Otočac Goran Bukovac (independent) is not surprised by this ranking.
- This is a continuation of our efforts to make the guest feel welcome and accepted in our environment. I am proud of my fellow citizens for their sincere and traditional hospitality. This is our custom and our heritage, which has become even more prominent with the development of tourism in Gacka, because in this context Otočac is not lagging behind many larger and better-known Croatian destinations, mayor Goran Bukovac explained to us.
The head of the municipality of Plitvice Lakes, where Korenica also belongs, Ante Kovač (independent), says the same thing, who considers this ranking somewhat expected.
- Due to the proximity of Plitvice Lakes National Park and many years of efforts to make our guests feel comfortable, a mentality full of positive energy, sincere welcome and warm reception has been created here. Considering all our tourist references and good practice, I wouldn't be surprised if we were ranked even higher in that ranking, Mayor Kovač told us.
The President of the Lika-Senj County Tourist Board, Ivan Radošević, is also not surprised by these flattering titles of Lika cities.
- Lika has always been known for its hospitality, for its sincere and warm reception of all well-intentioned guests. All the cities and municipalities of Lika have invested a lot of effort, resources and education in recent years so that our guests feel welcome and sincerely accepted. I am convinced that such an upward trend of cordiality will continue, Ivan Radošević pointed out, proud that even two towns in Lika were on the list of the most cordial Croatian communities.
In doing so, Booking.com awards the Traveler Review Awards as a public recognition of its partners for the superior services they offer to travelers.
