In order to make the visitors as familiar as possible with the natural beauties of this area and give them the opportunity to stay here longer, the project „Stay 3 days in Lika“ was created within the INTEGRA LIKA 2020 project, as our way of introducing nine different three-day-long visits. Every one of them includes visiting the Plitvice Lakes National Park, regarding its world popularity and exceptional geological and hydro-geological value. The program then suggests seeing other protected areas of nature, cultural heritage, and adrenaline-driven and educational activities in this area.
Another value of the suggested trips is in the corresponding gastronomical offer which includes locally produced products, made according to traditional recipes. Your kind hosts will make your stay an unforgettable experience you will want to try again.
The area of the Lika Destinations is characterized by extraordinary abundance in natural beauty, cultural heritage and exceptional gastronomic offer. UNESCO has recognized the uniqueness of this area and has protected the Plitvice Lakes National Park as world nature heritage in 1979, and the area of the mountain Velebit a biosphere reserve within the Man and biosphere program, because of the great diversity in flora and fauna, as well as many endemic plants. Over 60% of the Lika Destination territory has been declared as a NATURA 2000 territory. This unique territory includes the only European cave park Grabovača, rivers Gacka, Una and Lika, which is also the second longest sinking river in Europe. The preserved forests are the last European habitats of wild animals such as wolf and bear. The Lika region is also known for Nikola Tesla, who grew up eating this high quality food. This is an area inhabited since prehistoric period and is thus rich in cultural heritage. Another advantage of Lika and the sub-Velebit coast is precisely the merge of land and sea, where the guest gas the chance to spend the night in Lika’s continental part, and enjoy the blue Adriatic sea in only half an hour.
